Basal Body Temperature is the normal temperature of a healthy person immediately upon awakening in the morning.
In women, this temperature normally rises after ovulation due to hormonal changes. A temperature increase near the middle of your menstrual cycle can indicate ovulation has occurred.

Since the basal body thermometer is the only equipment necessary in monitoring basal body temperature, this method is less expensive than the in-home ovulation prediction kits. Measuring the basal body temperature for a few months is a useful initial approach for a couple attempting to conceive. If the woman has not conceived after a few months of trying, she will at least have accurate data about her cycle length and an approximate time period in which to expect ovulation to occur. This will prove useful in selecting an ovulation predictor test kit for home use.

You can buy them online at any online drug store for a very low price. www.babycenter.com

The difference between these and other thermometers is that they read a finer degree in temp than others. Ovulation only causes a one half degree change in temp. So you need to be able to see the smaller change in temp. That's what makes the basal thermometer different.

an typical thermometer reads like ninety 8.6, a Basal Thermometer reads an extra effective decimal element so like ninety 8.sixty 4. That way you are able to come upon very mild adjustments in temperature. I tracked my BBT for more effective or less 4 months and had no fulfillment getting pregnant. I basically offered an ovulation predictor kit and it has worked like a dream. It tells you before you ovulate truly of BBT that you spot after ovulation. good success!

You can use the regular thermometer. All you need to do is chart your body temperature, and note the difference when it rise or fall. If there is such a thing as "basal thermometer", it's just a gimic. Again, what you are measuring IS your body temperature.
