The towers that surround the castle are called the "keep".
A siege tower or siege engine is a tower on wheels that protects the soldiers when approaching the castle to be seized. They are also used as access to the ramparts of the castle.

Humpty Dumpty was such a "siege tower".

It was built and used only once during the English Civil War, by the Royalist Army.

Charles the First had it constructed for the besiegement of a rebel city in the west of England.
