I believe the sum would be 35. To get to where the product = 9, you have to go out to 18/17 I believe. All of the other numbers cancel out, for instance, the product 3/2 * 4/3 the 3's cancel out, leaving 4/2. Then when you multiply 4/2 by 5/4 the 4's cancel out, leaving 5/2. So you have to go out to 18/17, and you are finally left with 18/2 which is 9
