He had diarrhea for 1 day and yesterday was fine, but started getting red and swollen looking. I am taking him to his Dr. in a couple hours as soon as they open. But, what would of caused this??? Any ideas?

Dr. said it was from the diarrhea he had. Gave us some cream and oral medicine to give him. Hope it heals soon. His father isn't circumsized, which is why we never had him done either. But, sometimes I wish I had.

Relax, irritation from running bowels or whatever bug gave the running bowels your son is most likely the reason. Go to the doctor anyway. Things will be alright hope you have peace of mind, I'm sure he's alright

I take it he's out of diapers? If not, it may not have gotten cleaned well enough after the diarrhea, or, it may be that it was itching and he scratched it until he got it red and swollen.
Good luck.. and hope he doesn't have any problems with it.
ps, you didn't say if you had tried any gentle lotions, or changed detergents, or, maybe that pair of underwear didn't get completely rinsed, but, those are other things to take into consideration.

Most likely either irritation from the diarrhea or an infection from the same cause.

is your son circumsized? our son was not and he developed numerous infections in the area covered by the foreskin. eventually, at age 3, our urologist felt it was correct to have him circumsized. after the procedure and recovery were over, he never experienced the problem again. the dr. must have been right. It is purely infection due to lack of unclean peni, so clean his peni properly while bathing from inside by pulling down his flesh covering his peni, it will solve your problem
