New Hampshire, the Granite State, which holds what proves sometimes to be a crucial Presidential primary, prides itself on individualism and individual choice. Many in the State would probably say that liquor stores on the highway provide choice and that one is not obliged to go in. The television commercials underline the cost and tragedy of irresponsible driving, which includes DUI. It is hypocritical in a way, and the liquor industry must have its legislative lobbyists, but we human beings are often inconsistent. That said, I myself would not put them on the highway, for it makes it easier to drink and drive. Perhaps you could begin an individual drive in the State.

People are smarter than that in NH. Besides, they don't sell liquor to crazy kids under the age of 21.
Also, it's choice making. You could run in that liquor store, buy something and drink it and drive off, crash and get arrested, or you could pass by it casually and buy a smoothie or something somewhere else.

Taxes and laws often seem a bit ...contradictory. Now if they also had police sub-stations down the road, that would be useful.
It's like my home State. Kill someone it's a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of paroll or early release. So you die in prison.
BUT, kill them and eat them, then you get three consecutive life sentences... not quite sure how they would ever manage that one. (Thank you knee-jerk reaction to Jeffry Dahmer.)
The problem with legislators who are more interested in pleasing contributors or small voices (and minds) with big pocketbooks, rather then thinking things through.
Just my musings before coffee.

they are tax free liquor stores, and many people drive to the state just to make cheaper alcohol purchases. They do not serve opened beverages, so it is basically the same as driving to a local liquor store, but cheaper.

Not hypocritical if your state motto is LIVE FREE or DIE. Have you never seen drive-thru liquor stores in Nevada? or Florida?
There are alot of things that are crazy about living in the USA.

Well, if they're stupid enough to start drinking the stuff once they get back in the car, then I guess they deserve to get pulled over.
