My husband is going to. When we talked to the the Doc about it, he seemed okay with it but I sensed a little testosterone challenge between the 2 of them. My husband is a doctor, but not an obstetrician or surgeon...you know all doctors deliver babies in med school. So how did it go if your hubby helped out ~ he asked if I wanted him "up top" or "down below" and I chose down below. My Mom can stay up top and get her palms crushed, she's the world's best pamperer. This is my 2nd child but I had a c-section the 1st time, 13 years ago. What do you think, what should I expect? Thanks!! I'm due in 6 weeks, by the way.

Oftentimes the doctor will let the father "catch" the baby as it comes out and then cut the umbilical cord. As far as him actually delivering the baby... probably not.

My one son-in-law was not only in the delivery room with both deliveries, he got to catch the baby. And the doc asked him if he'd like to cut the cord! He left that one to the doc! My other son-in-law could only handle being up-top, coaching! Big difference between the 2! The coach can't stand the sight of blood, (he almost passed out with the first)

I helped with my daughter. Well, as much as they let me. I video taped the delivery, but they would ONLY aallow me to video from the head of the bed, not from the foot. So I didnt get the baby coming out. So I just placed the camera on the headboard. The also woouldnt let me catch her, they only let me cut the cord, but that was cool. I was the 2nd person to hold her. I was rubbing her face and she immediatel bit on my finger and started sucking it. wouldnt let go. She also opened her eyes then. She saw me first. It was cool.

My babys daddy did the delivery process while the doctor held my leg and gave instruction. It was a little irritating to me because I wanted them to shut up, but it was quite the experience for daddy.

My husband was in the delivery room. He watched our baby being born and cut the umbilical cord. This was big for him b/c he is extremely squeamish. And congrats!

My hubby was there but as it was a c-section, the only help he could offer was support.
