Hi there. I just got back from Croatia a week or so ago. I went to Spllit, Hvar and Dubrovnik. It was extremely safe as long as you use your common sense.
You can see Split in a day or two. It's mostly a stopping point to get to the southern Dalmation coast. Hvar was the best!!! A non-stop party. Dubrovnik was pretty cool too. More to see than in Hvar and a little more relaxed. The scene was decent as well. Saw the designer Valentino while we drinking at a bar there.
The beaches in Hvar and Dubrovnik are very rocky and have sea urchins so be sure to bring swim shoes. But the water is absolutely gorgeous and surprisingly warmer than I thought it would be. I think I met one or two other Americans while I was there, so it really felt like a vacation. Lots of Italians there on holiday, a few Brits and Australians as well. It was the best vacation I've ever been on! Have a great time if you decide to go there.

Dubrovnik is an amazing city in Croatia. It's the "walled" city. It's on the south west coast, about 3 hours or less from Split.
Both Dubrovnik and Split are nice cities. I like Dubrovnik better because it's quieter and less populated.
Both cities are on the Adriatic Sea.

No, no longer extremely, I stay there! :p i imagine its a wondreful position, each and every of the foreigners I met who were right here before also loved it... Dubrovnik is excellent, Mljet, Kor?ula, Istria, Šibenik, split... there are one of those great number of issues nicely worth seeing. as well, once you study the costs to those in different touristic places international, i imagine youll locate Croatia a a lot low-priced position to spend a visit at. the everybody is mostly pleasant, pretty on the coast, and that i have never met each person who regreted vacationing us.

You might consider Bulgaria, too, for the beaches. Chorvatsko and Bulharsko are the big places for travel for the old Eastern Countries. It's still inexpensive and lovely. They come back from their vacations with tans like they've been on the beaches of Hawaii all month.
