When you are young you want the freedom and the money and the car older people have: nobody to boss you around or restrict television hours. When you are older, you want the strength, the spontaneity, the boldness of youth. Somebody once said that youth is a glorious thing but a pity that it is wasted on the young. The Roman Sibyl got the very long life she asked for but forgot to ask for eternal youth at the same time, and therefore she only wished to die. Some people live in such a way that they seem to combine the maturity of age with the enthusiasm of youth.

Because they're impatient to be independent and quickly forget about the pleasures of being young and when you realize what you left behind, you always wish you could start all over again. You think: hey I am old enough to be independent but I'm not as young as I used to be and can't do the things I could once do.

I think it is the constant yearning for something different. Most people are at one time unhappy about certain things that occur to them when they are a certain age. Like if you're young, there are some things you're not privileged to do - same way when you're old.
I think some people are always going to look at the negative that is current in their life and wish they could change it. For example, wishing that they were older, or younger.

Because young people can't wait until they grow old... they have think that theyll have more freedom, be able to do more things like drink, and everything. But when they grow old, they realize that their best years were when they were a child. They loved it when they got the free icecream scoop from baskin robins, always going to chucky cheeses, and they finally realize that life doesnt take forever, its short... and they already passed a huge chunk of it saying... what happened the past 30 years? It's just that when you get older, time flies by faster, and you want to visit your good old days.

Because in my opinion, people always rush to be like everyone else...and then later on learn just to be themselves and learn to love to live in the present, was a gift unto itself that they never took advanatage of. So they try to make up for it later on, but rarely is it ever accomplished.
I keep this in mind a lot...a quote I have heard many times over the years...
"Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift. That's why we call it the present." ~Babatunde Olatunji
However, many do not see the present as a gift. Sad state of affairs, but the majority don't.
Anyhow, that is my answer. :)

since you were born, you hurried to grow up.you wanted to speak,to walk and to do many other things the people around u did...and you grew...then you were anxious to have the first kiss,to smoke or to drink.and you had them.now you are an adult..you have to work hard to maintain your family, you have to solve thousand and thousand of problems and you have to try to smile for your kids not to notice you are tired or nervous...in this situation..you still want to be an adult,to be on your own?it was easier when you were young and your parents took care of you...there were so many wonderful things in childhood and adolescence...

The real young see older people with authority and power. Then one day you notice younger people are getting all the attention. Lack of contentment, I guess.

because we always crave for something, (being an adult, in this case) and when we get it we just notice that it comes with whole package and it's not funny any more... and about the lost youth... we only appreciate it after it's gone... like we do with most things we take for granted.
