The issue with this question is the term "cool kid". People reading this question must ask themself what a "cool kid" is and people have different answers. What is a "cool kid"? Yes I understand that high school is all about separating into the nerds, jocks, popular kids, and whatever else there is these days. I played tennis in high school and in college and I had many different friends and enjoyed every minute of it. Below I will highlight a few ideas as to persuade you to the "green fuzz". Every tennis player will tell you tennis is a lifetime sport, and it's true! Other sports are played in high school and college and then never played again. Think about lacrosse for instance. Are their even lacrosse leagues out there? Well you get my point - tennis is played at all ages and you just get better and better. You can stop playing and then pick up the sport again when your older too. It's just a great sport for everyone playing in the long run. If you want to get serious in the sport then focus on the fundamentals. Learn the technique to the shots and practice a lot. This will help you during competition. If you are looking to play recreationally then you may not wish to learn as much. It's really up to you. If you didn't guess before - the "green fuzz" is a tennis ball! Tennis is called a high maintenance sport because people that want to learn everything correctly usually has money. Private lessons can get expensive. When it comes to equipment - rackets, shoes, strings - added all up isn't that much more than your other sport. Getting courts and instruction is where the expense comes. Good luck finding your "cool kid" identity. The sooner you learn that everyone is "cool" in there own way, the better off you will be! You don't neccesarily have to fit in - standing out is what gets people places :)

1. In Singles Tennis, if the ball bounces on either side of the court, it is counted out.
2. In Doubles Tennis, if the ball bounces on either side of the court, it is counted in.
3. When you serve the ball, make sure you serve the ball over the net.
4. Use a good, sturdy tennis racket when you play tennis.
5. Tennis can be played by either one set, three sets, or five sets.
6. 6 is the score for defeating your opponent; 7 is the tie-breaker score; 0 = Love
7. If both you and your opponent have the score of 40, then you will go to the Advantage Round.
8. There are three types of ground material for the tennis court; Clay, Hard, and Lawn. Hard Court material is the best.
9. The outfits are adorable. For the male players, short-sleeved shirts and shorts. For the female players, sleeveless tank top and skirts.

Gosh....that's tall order. I would need to write a book.......
Try going on the net.....and watching some tennis on tv. You'll get a rough idea, then you could go on the net, and then maybe ask a few more specific questions for aspects of the game you can't understand.

Check out this website http://www.sportspectator.com/fancentral/tennis.html it should tell you everything you are asking about and more. As far as dress....as long as there are pockets in the shorts or skirts to hold the extra balls, anthing goes. Well as long as your butt isn't hanging out. If you want to know anything else feel free to ask.
