Lions can live up to twenty years in captivity.
In their natural habitat lions live an average of 10 - 14 years, because they have to fight for their place in their society, and when they get older the young ones take over and the older ones get kicked out of the pride.
They often kill each other when fighting for supremacy.

well i know there was a tiger on telly the other day and that was aged 23 so I'm guessing lions would get to the same sort of age as they are similar so i would say about 28

They can live to the age of 15 in the wild, if they have enough space to hunt and do not resort to hunting livestock and there are no serious drought conditions, which causes most of the wildlife to die. In captivity they can live to 25 years old or more, depending on their environmental conditions.
