Socrates said "An unexamined life is not worth living," but I would argue that this principle can and should be applied to everything in ones life. An unexamined faith is not worth living, and unexamined political system is not worth having, an unexamined computer system is worthless, etc. Keep in mind that nobody holds a monopoly on truth and righteousness and that just because somebody in a position of "authority" says it's so, doesn't necessarily mean that it is or has to be.

My words of wisdom would have to be question and think critically about everything, especially yourself.

Live and let live.

Meaning you live YOUR life and you allow others to be happy and live their own lives! Even if you do not agree with their choices.

If you can't get along, then get apart!
