put it this way - why shouldn't it be legal? what's wrong with two people, who love each other, being able to declare their love publicly and enjoy the same stability and strength of relationship (and legal/financial) benefits that any other couple can have? i don't see the difference - if you ban gay marriage you might as well ban all marriage, it makes as much logical sense.

10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong

01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always
reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester,
and air conditioning.

02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in
the same way that hanging around tall people will make
you tall.

03) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all
kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry
their pets because a dog has legal standing and can
sign a marriage contract.

04) Straight marriage has been around a long time and
hasn't changed at all; women are still property,
blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still
illegal.

05) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay
marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears'
55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

06) Straight marriages are valid because they produce
children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old
people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our
orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more
children.

07) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children,
since straight parents only raise straight children.

08) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a
theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are
imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only
one religion in America.

09) Children can never succeed without a male and a
female role model at home. That's why we as a society
expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of
society; we could never adapt to new social norms.
Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the
service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

The Supreme Court can make a ruling that either allows or disallows it. Once it is passed in the Supreme court it becomes a matter of law and legality. If approved...each state then has its' own recognition and law to allow or disallow it by State regardless that the Supreme court may find it okay.
Each State will no9t adopt new law unless the Law clearly stipulates that is a Federal Violation in each State to deny same sex marriage.
So there you have it...one big Gasser and America looks at it like junk, Politicians look at it for votes.

Yes, because they deserve the same rights such as insurances, estates, and recognition for being together. I know gay couples who have been together long past the time my hetro friends have married and divorced...It's not fair for a family who has disowned someone to come in after their death and claim a lifetime's worth of home, and estate while their partner is left out in the cold, but at the moment that is the way the laws are. I think that a partner who has stood with someone for years, been through hell and back and come out the other side, have supported one another as a couple they deserve all the rights and benefits as hetro couples do.

I think the government should get out of the marriage business. Marriages should treated as a legal contract between two people just as any other legal agreement is done.

Do you see two bulls in a pasture getting it on? Do you see two Lions having it with each other? It's not normal to do this! What people do is their business, but keep it in the closet where it belongs! When you define a marriage, the definition is: a commitment between a man and a woman. Sexual preference should be kept where it belongs, at home! To parade up and down the street with it, only signifies someone wanting attention. You can band together millions of people and convince them they are doing what is right, and they will believe it! They don't want to hear the truth, and don't care to agree with anything except what they want to hear. One would be better off to not make an issue of their sexual preference. What do they want? The world to admit they are right? Then what? It reminds me of children hiding and smoking cigarettes. Ok if it was approved, then what? It would be on to something else to parade about. Take away the attention factor, and all you have is the square one you started at. It's OK for gays to be in a relationship, but lets not call it marriage! Are you trying to make the church accept you ways in which they are not going to agree with? Yes! If the church don't agree with your bonding in holy matramony, then start your own gig. The world started with Adam and Eve, Not Adam and Steve. Until you can have a baby out of your rectum, then you will never be accepted as man and wife! Until a woman grows a penis will she ever be accepted as a husband! To be married, you must become man and wife. What part of this don't you understand? I for one, am tired of this crap being shoved down our throats, and us straights being told we are wrong, and we are just biased against you people. That puts everybody in a situation that no one can win. Call it unity, call it bonding, but don't call it marriage.

I think so. I for the life of me don't see why gay people should be discriminated against. I don't think religious zealots should be dictating laws, and the only argument against it I ever hear is the bible says it's a sin. What has the bible or any religious paper have to do with people legal rights, if two atheists get married is it a sin, they don't believe in god, and in certain circles that is a sin.

I don't really care about sexual preference , if you are happy marry. However, i do have a big beef with this. No it is not societies norm but I have lived with a man for many years, who has great health benefits, if my state were common law i would be entitled to these. So before they address the gays how about us who live a heterosexual lifestyle. Once you marry you are entitled to all the benefits and i am not , not really fair. Being unmarried is my choice as is you wanting to marry your partner, why should i not be entilted to reap the benefits also. Thank god society is ever changing , and hopefully you will be accepted as the norm as will living togehter.

the government should no longer marry people. instead straights and gays alike must go through a civil union to receive the rights that couples now defined as married receive. in order to be married, you must have a seperate ceremony take place in the church. all marriages prior to the change will be considered a simultaneous civil union by being grnadfathered into the system. marriage will be a religious process and civil unions a legal one. church and state are seperated as the constituion (or the d.o.c. i can't remmeber) intended. also, it helps the economy. people pay for two processes instead of just one (that is, in churches that charge for wedding ceremonies) and there will be plenty of more open minded churches willing to marry gay people if they so choose. this also lets atheist or agnostic people be joined with no religious involvement. feel free to e-mail me to discuss or tell me it's genius.

Yes, they're not hurting anyone and there is no reason for people who love one another to not be able to share all that life has to offer. Pensions, health insurance plans, death benefits, Social Security and so on...when a woman and man spend their lives together they have these things to fall back on and depend on in their golden years...there is no logical reason whatsoever for a gay/lesbian couple to not be eligible for the same benefits. If you have ever been in love and thought that you wanted to spend the remainder of your life with someone, you'll understand that two people in love, no matter what their gender is simply Love and True Love itself- this day in age is a rarety all its own. I for one say live and let live, Love and Let Love!
