maybe because you don't worry about being considered as a clever person and you trust in your present thoughts,whether silly or not, rather than those of other people or of one's past self

Well, could be that you are nervous and lack confidence in yourself around people and the only way you know how to compensate for it is to fall back on asking silly questions. This is your comfort zone.
