debts that should be settled he insists he needs his own laptop. is he being reasonable or i'm i being too controlling by insisting that we both continue to share the one we currently have and hold off on the laptop for now?

p.s - we are both students and we are supporting our daughter.

pertinent questions in this are- Does he also use it for work? Is it causing a time constriction in getting assignments done? Would a used laptop serve the same purpose?
If it is a needed item, the actual cost can be reduced.
BTW
Laptops can be purchased new for $400 now.

ridiculous just get one cheap there are some that are only 500 or less and you can get one cheaper on eBay your husband is selfish unless you keep taking it from him get one that's cheap remember try eBay
