Try to rank them objectively. C'mon. W can't be on this list but he appears to be popular despite the current poll numbers. No US President is perfect. They all have flaws but there positive moments outweigh their negative moments.

I seem to be getting some crap with my Jefferson selection. I better explain myself. I'll revise my top 5. I forgot that Jefferson said his presidency was a failure. But he still needs to hailed as a president for essentially giving us the midwest. Without the Louisana Purchase the western US would still be with Mexico. In theory of course.

It will automatically be the next one, no matter how dysfunctional and incompetent he or she is. With the curve that's set up for the 2008 winner, Paris Hilton could easily go down in history as the new FDR, metaphorically speaking.
Other than that, I go with:
1.) Jefferson
2.) FDR
3.) Washington
4.) Lincoln
5.) Kennedy, mostly for civil rights and getting us through the Cuban missile crisis. If we'd have had a Bush or Reagan in charge back then, we'd have all been bacon and toast in about eight minutes. I know this because I was around back then, and extremely concerned. The last thing we needed was an arrogant, chest-thumping Ape in charge. That's exactly what Russia had in Kruschev, and he eventually backed down. We needed a strong but diplomatic leader to pull that off, the "walk softly but carry a big stick" variety.
Bush would have wielded a Viking Battle-Axe and there would have been no November of 1962.
BTW, if I'd have been allowed one more, it would have been James Madison, father of the Constitution. It's so hard for me to leave him off the list, yet impossible to cut any other out of it.

"Lincoln slept with different men "to maintain money."" Dood, i'm no longer likely to permit that to slip, For the checklist President Lincoln became no longer gay and this entire argument appropriate to the "perfect" President is a farce from the initiating because of the fact there are maximum of distinctive variables. additionally merely my take on the undertaking, all the Presidents because JKF have been heavily ineffective while it includes serving the folk of this great land - - - see the link

None of the above.
They were all pretty mediocre characters to begin with, and some of them were outright criminals (long before the current incumbent).
But the most outstanding - even if it is in a negative way - was Harry Truman, who dragged the world into the age of nuclear weapons and established the USA as the perpetual policeman of the world.
For that the Americans and all of us will pay a heavy price as soon as the American Empire begins to collapse (and it shows already signs of grave deterioration).

That;s a tough call but I think I'll go largely with what you have, except I'd swap Jefferson and Roosevelt. Number 6 would be Truman.
