For one shinning moment the entire world stopped and watched in wonder as Neil Armstrong set his left foot on the moon, July 20, 1969. It may have been the closest the world has ever been to complete peace on earth.

I should say so, a total of six times from 1969 to 1972 ( I think). I've never figured out how they managed to film the first one. Some used this question to dismiss the whole incident as a collective figment of the imagination, but I think there is enough documentary evidence that a landing took place to support that conclusion.
I would be interested in knowing for sure if there are plans to put someone else on the moon, as someone earlier mention; also what would be the use, since the moon's surface has been explored to death. I'd think after almost 40 years, there's nothing more to see. Why not go even further, to Mars?

Yes. I watched it on TV as a child. It is a great wonder.
"The first moon landing by a human was that of American Neil Armstrong, commander of the Apollo 11 mission, accompanied by Buzz Aldrin. On July 20, 1969, while their teammate Michael Collins controlled the command module Columbia, Armstrong landed the lunar module Eagle on the surface of the moon at 4:17:42 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. It is not true that man put his foot on moon. In 1969 'a man' has landed on to the moon wearing shoes.

Well, about 38 years ago, Armstrong walked on the Moon, but he was within the special space form, thus no part of human body touched our satellite!
