Named storms are named according to the ocean where they generated. In other words the Atlantic storms have only made it to Ernesto whereas Pacific storms have made it to John. Hope that helps.

Storms are named from where they Form. For example, the next storm in the pacific will be with a K and the atlantic an F

there are 2 lists of names for the storms one is for the gulf of mexico and the atlantic ocean and the other one is for the pacific ocean and further out in the pacific ocean the hurricanes are called typhons, and the pacific has been more active due to el nino.

They were probably used, just the storms weren't big enough to get attention
