It is not unexpected. The cost to operate in the East has gotten obscene. The states have been ripping off business people because the could, and I think that has finally gotten to the breaking point. In addition, it is easy to lose touch with America trying to operate in a big Eastern city. Going to other areas of the country can save money and help attract more talent. Living in the East is so costly compared to the Midwest or South.

They are moving south to Atlanta, GA and its beautiful climate.

ATL is fast becoming like a NYC and SFO.

NYC was built and succeeded because it was the first and biggest sea port of entry for immigrants from across the big pond.

ATL, if you know is the worlds busiest airport in terms of number of people that move through this port. Comprehend the similarity?

Also, the south has some great colleges like GA Tech that can supply the necessary talent for the old giant corporates to thrive.

So there you are, combine great location, people, travel and you get growth in your region. You close your borders, restrict peoples freedoms, and don;t provide great facilities in prime locations, you have decline.

And to top it all, the beautiful all year round weather...NYC can never beat that. Yet, NYC is NYC, will never die, don;t worry. Ever see that T-shir..."I (heart sign) NY"? NYC is great. So is ATL!!!

So, that is a natural phenomenon.
