Though I like deer meat, I do not approve of the practice of feeding it to people without their consent. If I were in the situation, like you said, they informed people after the fact, I'd fake an anaphylactic reaction and really scare the dickens out of them.
There are many reasons why people do not eat one thing or another: they just don't like it, religious or personal beliefs or medical reasons like allergies. It's never a good idea to force a food on anyone.

Ugh, this is one of my pet peeves. It's f*cking horrible to feed something to someone without telling them what it is. I've had this done to me.
My aunt made a meatloaf with deermeat and told everyone it was beef. I knew something was funny with the texture, but ate some out of politeness. After dinner was over, she smirked at me and told me that it was deer. It pissed me off so badly because she *knew* that I didn't eat deermeat. Needless to say, I haven't eaten anything she's cooked since, and she knows exactly why.
If someone wants to kill deer and actually uses the body, more power to them. I have a huge problem with hunters who kill an animal purely for sport, but if the animal products are used, fine. No matter what, you shouldn't force a food on a person without them having knowledge of what it is.

Around the world it is probably eaten almost as much as beef and pork.
Your sensibilities are showing. Millions of people would starve without it!!
What is so different about deer meat to the meat you eat such as beef, pork, lamb, rabbit etc?

I have eaten deer meat alot of times. In fact, it is healthier than beef. Lean meat. A little gamey but good. You eat it, thank them and leave. It wont kill you!

Deer meat is an excellent source of protein. It tastes good, too. I would say thank you.

so what's your point? so many people have this idea in their head that it taste nasty without even trying it. If you liked it, what's the big deal? If you didn't like it, you simply say 'you didn't like it' where's the confusion? I did it to my sister-in-law. I didn't tell her what it was and low and behold she loved it!!
