If its a padlock then tip it on its side and shake it as you look for the tumblers to fall open...Its alittle difficult but (almost)all padlocks will open this way..if its a regular bedroom doorknob type lock then Push a chopstick into the hole in the knob and apply pressure till you feel it open...Orrrrrrrrrrrr..you can just take the knob apart with a screwdriver and push the knobpins in ( located on the sides at the joint) this will mean putting the darn thing back together or ...shopping for a new knob...When you do get it open,..I suggest a spare set of keys put away where you can find them (outside the guestroom )...:o)

Most doorknobs in houses that lock don't have a place for a key on the outside of the room, but they do have a hole in the middle of the knob. stick a piece of coathanger wire in the hole and push till you hear a click. the door should open

Guest room of what, a home , a hotel, - see the owner and have him or her open the door, you are a guest obviously, so don't break anything- you might try a credit card at the door latch. otherwise play on the computer until help arrives.
