If you actually think about it...
If you're constantly trying to be whoever it takes to win everyone, then isn't that technically who you are anyway? Maybe you're the changeling that always adapts to the situation. Do you have to be solid in your personality to be a person?
Then again, you have to make sure you're not giving up what you want to be who you've been. (wow that was a weird sentence) Take a few days and chill by yourself. Think about what you want and if it is more important to change in order to get it, then I don't see a problem.
My dearest friends say my personality changes when I'm around different people. I tend to sway towards whatever social group I'm apart of. That works wonders for me, since I fit well in any situation. I'm proud.
Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying, but any way you meant it, remember that YOU know what YOU want. Don't let a damn thing stand in your way!

I know people who are constantly trying to sell themselves. This might sound cheesy, but I think you need to feel good with yourself. Something tells me you're trying to win the approval of everyone else to fill some emotional void you have inside yourself. Are you happy with yourself? What are the things you feel are missing? Try to do things for yourself instead of other people. Once you're happy with yourself then other people will naturaly be drawn to that and there will be no need to impress them.

yes loads of times i try to explain things to people they just don't want to believe me and turns into an arguement just because theydon't agree with my opinions
and also trying to be confident and improve self esteem is very hard when people don't care or don't realize how i feel they want me to be confident yet they slag me off when ever i say things so whats the point might as well talk to a brick wall because everyone i know are so slow at understanding peoples feelings it seems like i'm the only one in the world that understands things don't you agree

The majority of the world is trying to "fit in" and only a few smart people are deciding to follow the beat of their own drum. After the world stones and crucifies us(smart and few ones) who will be left? Will the Son of Man find faith on earth when He returns?

Yes you need to keep track of the real you. Maybe it's time to step back and find yourself again. Be a leader, not a follower. If you need to change for people to like you then you need to find other people to hang out with.
