Poetry is a form of art ~ like a painting or a song..... for every 100 people who love it, there will be another 100 who hate it.
I may not like a poem, but who am I to criticize the poet's heart or mind's work? Unless, they ask for my opinion, anyway.

Many peope write really bad poetry and post it online.
Many people can't differentiate between good and bad poetry.
Many peope don't want to be honest critics if it will hurt the writer's feelings.
And too many people think that if it rhymes, it's poetry.
Or if
it has
really short lines
like this
it's poetry too.
Many people don't understand that poetry is an art form requiring years of study, practice and revision. They wouldn't pick up a paint brush because they know they have no talent or ability...but they won't hesitate to pick up a pen and toss off something ghastly in the name of "poetry."
In the last couple of weeks on this site I've seen only one poem with promise, and that was written by a middle schooler who insisted that it was his own work. Everything else was crap.
Luckily there is fine poetry in the word that we can seek out if we choose. Just don't look for it here!

Because some people who can use two rhyming words in a sentence think that they're poets. Real poetry doesn't suck. Read some Emily Dickinson or William Blake, and appreciate the real poetry.

This previous asserting is real, "Too each and every his very own". Poetry isn't an actual or incorrect element. there is not any longer a appropriate thank you to precise a poem neither is their any "sucky" poetry. Poetry is a team of ideas prepare. it could rhyme be in a particular order, or merely be scattered theory. it could make experience to you yet to no longer others. I even have consistently written in an fantastically dark mysterious place. I relish that style of writing even with the undeniable fact that. some human beings relish greater desirable than happy and short poems. while you're attempting to make it sound appropriate, it heavily isn't. think ofyou've have been given to enable your ideas go and end concentrating lots on perfection. the perfect poets wrote approximately existence reports in distinctive distinctive fashions. commencing on a direction of poetry can no longer purely take place. the perfect suggestion is to get a on a regular basis mag and checklist your existence. each time you have a theory, write it down and attempt to be nonjudgmental with your self. Poetry is merely ideas conveyed in no uncomplicated systematical order. faculties could tutor approximately Haiku's' or different forms of uncomplicated poetry. yet once you think of approximately it, song is poetry placed to song. Majority of songs are peoples' existence's reports placed to a rhtyhm. Poetry takes time and attempt. Forcing it or attempting to make it merely precise won't in any respect paintings. Write you ideas, placed across your emotions and emotions and go from there.

Have you heard of this phrase, 'Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.'
Its the same thing with poetry, you need to appreciate it and love it to understand what it means.
Poetry for me is beautiful and meaningful but to the ignorant, it may stink or suck.
It depends who reads the poem, like kids would laugh at simple phrases because they do not understand.
Besides people have different tastes, maybe some people's aren't as affluent.

Face it, most everything sucks. Poetry just shows off the fact that it sucks because it screams "Look at me! I suck! I really suck!" and people see that and say "Ew, yeah, you really do suck." Now, rotting asparagus spears suck too, but they do so quietly, in a non-threatening way and so nobody bothers to mention it that much.
