American President because he has the most power. Then I'd use that power to get face to face talks with all the leaders in the Middle East and really try to resolve the problems there. One term, real effort, it could be done.
I believe a diplomatic solution is possible IF you are willing to hold frank and inclusive talks (yes you may have to talk to 'terrorist' leaders) and IF america doesn't try to impose its own will (the middle east clearly has different politics and philosophies), and IF America truely believes in trying world peace (rather than seeing business opportunity).
OK I'm on a utopian, optimistic, upswing here. Now back to my normal grumpy self.

I wouldn't want either, too much power, not enough fun. But if I had to choose, I would go for President, it wouldn't last as long and I would have a chance at ending capital punishment and reducing gun crimes.
I'd also like to use the opportunity to make money redundant, if anyone can do it, the US president can.
