do they know anything about anything? i've talked with many americans about a lot of things. i just wanted to find out what their opinion is. some of them don't even say "i think" or "i read" but use the expression "we were tought that...". i don't know what they are reading in school but the impresion is they don't read at all. they are educated to have only one point of interest and they leave other things for the others. maybe you should have asked an american geographer.:)

I love the common ignorant stereotype that "Americans don't know about anything outside of their country." It's so ironic! The people who say stupid things like that don't know much outside of their own little world.

How many people out there, without looking at a map, know the capital of New York...or which state the Grand Canyon is in?

I know that Budapest is the capital of Hungary and that the "Hun" part comes from Attila.

Wik Neets is right. Ask any Hungarians, 99% of us has no idea what is the capital or where is Georgia, for example. Why do we expect Americans to know anything about our insignificant small country? Do we know anything about Suriname? Of course not. We're just out of their scope.

A lot of Americans know very little about most countries in the world. It's not their fault. It's the fault of their education system.
