This is presuming you were referring to painters.
Sculptors have defferent mediums, though for inspiration the same would do...
Musicians, would depend on what type...
Singers ...their voices
and for inspiration I supppose that again they would be inspired by the human being (this time body and soul)

expression...whatever format, whatever medium. that is the inherent nature of an artist: to express by whatever means, despite any "handicap". beethoven was deaf...ray charles and stevie wonder were blind, helen keller was both (not sure if you consider her an artist, but based on my answer she managed to express herself and her legacy carries on)

Their talents and abilities, because without it, they wont be able to use the tools needed for painting and he/she wont be able to draw a very good painting without his/her talents.
