Boston is a great city. I know you'll have a wonderful time.

Luckily for you, most things are very close. You can almost walk to many things!

In Boston, Fanuiel Hall/Quincy Market is a must.

Freedom Trail as well, except don't walk the whole thing. Just hit some of the highlights. Go to the old North Church, South Meetinghouse and the Cemetery to see John Hancock and other tombstones.

Many tourists like the Duck tours as well. So if you're inclined, do the Ducks!

If you like museums, the MFA (Museum of Fine Arts) is one of my favorite in the world (that and the Musee D'Orsay in Paris). Museum of Science is pretty neat too.

If you like Baseball, you might be able to catch a Red Sox game. You can probably get tickets cheap now that they're starting to fall out of the pennant race.

If you like to shop, go to the shops at Prudential/Copley Plaza. Also, be sure to walk down Newbury St just for fun and window shop.

Harvard Sq can be entertaining to walk around. Or you can bounce down to MIT and walk those hallways as well. Next to that is the esplanade, where you can walk the Charles River, which is gorgeous in the summer time, walk downtown and grab something to eat near fanueil hall!

You can also get a day pass for the "T" (subway) and ride all over just for fun!

Since you're here for a couple of weeks, you might expand your touring and wander outside of Boston (like if you have a car),

There's also Salem (north of Boston),
Visit Bunker Hill memorial in Charlestown (and you can climb it)
Visit Old Ironsides (USS Constitution) in Charlestown,
JFK library (just south of Boston),
Visit Lexington and Concord (where it all started) out Route 2.

About an hour north is Maine and lobster galore! Also, just over the border is Kittery, home of some of the largest outlet malls in the country.

If you like amusement parks, Six Flags New England is about an hour or so west in Agawam MA. Or you can go up to Canobie Beach in New Hampshire.

In any event, those are some of the best "must sees!"

And of course, enjoy the seafood! For affordable seafood, No Name's is the place to go. Outside of that, you could do the old reliable Durgin Park @ Quincy Market. And be sure to visit the North end for some of the best italian food there is!

As you might be able to tell, Boston's one of my favorite cities. Hope you have a fantastic time!

I saved this question from another answer but its still very useful. Here are a bunch of sites to go and see.

Much of these sites cost money. But if you have a trustworthy map you can do this on your own. For example, the Freedom Trail is a red line painted on the ground that you follow. There are signs at major sites.

As far as the North End goes, any restaurant you go into is wonderful.

Now if you are staying in Boston and do not have a car and want to see something else, jump on the commuter rail to Providence. It drops you off right in downtown Providence.

If you have a car and looking to do some traveling, you may want to drive to Salem, MA for the witchcraft sites. Or drive south to Newport, RI to see the mansions.

Have a wonderful time!

I recommend renting a bike. You can start at Harvard Square and follow Mass Ave. out to Arlington. From there you can pick up the bike path (former railroad bed) and bike all the way out the battle road in Concord.

While in Harvard Sq. try a meal at Border Cafe behind the coop.

Also try:
Redbones in Somerville
A walk through the North End. You can pick just about any restaurant there and be amazed.
The restaurant in the Four Seasons Hotel.
A drive up to Salem, MA. Pick one of the restaurants near the water.
Drive down to the cape and take the great bike trail there. For less exercise you could go over to Martha's Vineyard and ride there.
