SOAP.
The show was controversial for its time, dealing openly with the topics of homosexuality, marital infidelity, impotence, interracial marriage, and gay parenting.
This for me is the parent of laughfests like friends...frasier...seinfeld...cheers...
The show was a weekly, half-hour primetime comedy whose satirical bent was, in its day, practically without precedent for an American network programme, especially one whose format was similar to that of a daytime soap opera.
Robert Guillaume, Donelly Rhodes, Robert Ulrich, Billy Crystal, Jimmy Baio, Roscoe Lee Browne and many others rounded up this sterling cast. Never have I seen so large an ensemble work so flawlessly...whose comic timing was impeccable...but the real
power of SOAP came from their ightning moves from laughter to tears...and back again. You never knew when they were goingto pull the rug out from under you...and at times not knowing if you should laugh or cry...would end up doing both.
There was a core of substance to that show...missing from its descendants...and I miss it.
Benson the butler who never acted like one...Chuck and Bob the ventriloquist and his dummy and no one could tell who was who...the two sisters Jessica and Mary...the husbands Chester and Burt...
How sweet it was when it was their time...and I'll not see the likes of another show like that in my lifetime...

If you so desire...catch it on the comedy channel when it again makes an appearance there...

Will find a home with the Tates...maybe with the Cambpells?

"These questions - and many others - will be answered in the next episode of Soap."

I Love Lucy! This one was famous for her antics and she was the first to have a baby while being on a tv show.
