It's probably more hard than easy. Just be yourself, and you'll find the right group of people to associate with.

I usually find it a bit hard to fit into a new group as I am a shy person. But as I have just moved to London from New Zealand I have made an effort to find a group of people that I know I have something in common with - softball. I joined a softball team and that commonality helped to build friendships.
Pretty soon you will find that you feel comfortable with these new people. You just have to turn up and take people up on offers to do things and just be yourself.

You may be a bit nervous and that is normal. If you are not nervous you will probably come over as cocky anyway. At first, do more listening than talking so you get the feel of the group. Lose you airs and graces and be yourself. Good luck, and I hope you have a lovely time.

i had a problem fitting in, it was really hard, then i realised that i was talking to the wrong people, and i just wasn't noticing the people i should have been talking to. you just have to look at all your choices and see which group of people you can actually hold a conversation with where you're being yourself.

Depends on who the people are!
If I have a good connection and the same, or similar values, then I get along well and feel safe.
If they are people who I don't connect with, or have anything in common, then it can be tough. I can find it difficult to know what to do with myself.
But above all, everybody deserves respect, no matter who they are, or what they've done!

Easy if they are my kind of people.
Hard if they are not and we have nothing in common but in that situation it doesnt really matter because I wont want to fit.

Start a discussion. Find a common interest. For me, it's hard in the beginning. But once you get to know each other, it'll be smooth.
