Uhh, buddy. He's only 32 years old!! That's not old at all! Besides, he's the best shortstop and hitter ever! LOOK AT HIS NUMBERS!!!!!!!! His average is about .343 with 12 home runs. And his average is the second highest now in the MLB and he is close to winning the MVP. First place in average is Joe Mauer of the Twins but, Jeter is getting closer. I have a feeling Jeter will retire when he's about 41 so, he'll be around for a long, long, long time.

He is not too old for shortstop. In the next few years he might need to move to centerfield or 2nd base, much like Hall of Famer Robin Yount did the last few years of his career. He is not the same defensive player he was a few years ago, but he is still good enough to play the position.
I am taking for granted that you are only discussing his fielding at shortstop. If you are talking about his abilities as a player and thinking he should retire, then I'd have to agree with some of the other answers and think you were nuts (or at least a Red Sox fan looking for any help possible).

Excuse me, have you checked the AL batting leaders lately? Jeter is in the top 3. That's someone who needs to retire???

He's the team captain. He's got the second best batting average in the A.L. He is an M.V.P. candidate.
By your logic, every SS needs to retire.

Er, he's the captain of a team with an eight-game lead in its division and the second-best record in the AL. I hope he gets to go out when he's still on top of the game, but he's certainly not "too old".
