I work with Stainless steel on a HUGE scale, is it flat or DP1? DP1 is like a grain in it. DP1 will clean up quite well with ANY light oil, including veg/ olive etc. The flat or even worse is the mirror finish, the best stuff is 3M stainless polish, a aerosol cream, but expensive (£10 a can), failing that, WD40 is also excellent BUT it is a bit smelly for a while, or, a bit of patience and any light oil.
It does become easier the longer you have it also, the reason being is it (unfortunately) scratches.
Good luck

I have stainless steel pots and pans, and I use Mr. Metal (bought at the local grocery store). It wasn't more thatn $5.00. I just put some in the pots and clean with the soft side of a sponge. It works wonders and it's so shinny on the outside and inside-no streaks.

My whole kitchen is Stainless Steel, and I had the same problem as you. I tried everything and nothing work, until I came across Pledge for Stainless Steel. It is quite expensive ( £1.99 ) for a can, but you have my word that it really does work......let me know how you get on.

Mr Sheen have brought out a metal polish which I use on my stainless steel oven, also the toaster, breadmaker, and kettle. It great and does work, but don't use a yellow duster. I use kitchen towel. Hope this helps.

On old and inexpensive trick . . wash the surfaces and then polish and dry with a piece of scrunshed up newspaper . . . . it really does work.
The reason you get streaks is because whatever you are using is drying on the surface. The newspaper soakes up any fluid left on the surface. Also excellent for cleaning windows and mirrors . . wash and then dry using newspaper :)
