Assassination

Raj Ghat: Gandhi's Memorial in Delhi.See also: Attempts to assassinate Mahatma Gandhi
On January 30, 1948, on his way to a prayer meeting, Gandhi was shot dead in Birla House, New Delhi, by Nathuram Godse. Godse was a Hindu radical with links to the extremist Hindu Mahasabha, who held Gandhi responsible for weakening India by insisting upon a payment to Pakistan.[17] Godse and his co-conspirator Narayan Apte were later tried and convicted, and on 15 November 1949, were executed. Gandhi's memorial (or Samādhi) at Rāj Ghāt, New Delhi, bears the epigraph, (Devanagiri: हे ! राम or, Hé Rām), which may be translated as "Oh God". These are widely believed to be Gandhi's last words after he was shot, though the veracity of this statement has been disputed by many.[18] Jawaharlal Nehru addressed the nation through radio:

"Friends and comrades, the light has gone out of our lives, and there is darkness everywhere, and I do not quite know what to tell you or how to say it. Our beloved leader, Bapu as we called him, the father of the nation, is no more. Perhaps I am wrong to say that; nevertheless, we will not see him again, as we have seen him for these many years, we will not run to him for advice or seek solace from him, and that is a terrible blow, not only for me, but for millions and millions in this country."

Nathuram Godse was the one who assassinated Mr Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. However the plot was concieved by Narayan Apte, Gopal Godse and Nathuram Godse. Out of that Gopal Godse is still living. No single group planned this assassinatiion, however the trio were former members of Right wing Hindu Group - Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Although the RSS have oppossed the Gandhian Ideolgies, they have always condemned the assassination and have never proved to be a part of it.

"Yes! I Killed Mohandas Gandhi and I am Glad I Did It!", were the words of Nathuram Gopal Godse who killed/shot Gandhi on January 30, 1948 who was on his way to a prayer meeting. Gandhi was shot dead in Birla House, New Delhi.

Godse was a Hindu radical with links to the extremist Hindu Mahasabha, who held Gandhi responsible for weakening India by insisting upon a payment to Pakistan.Godse and his co-conspirator Narayan Apte were later tried and convicted, and on 15 November 1949, were executed/hanged.

The shocking fact is that the assasins were not headstrong fundamentalists but were highly educated intellectuals who loved their motherland as much, if not more, as Gandhiji.

Gopal Godse spent 18 years in prison for his role in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. His brother and one other conspirator were hanged by the neck until dead.He is survived by his wife and his two daughters. In the last years of his life, he supported himself by selling books and giving interviews about how he killed Gandhi.

Gandhi is the main culprit for partition of Pakistan and India (Jinna and Jawaharlal)Godsay is a seer. He presaw terrorism and if pakistan were under india this terrorism would not have shown such a big head. Every action has a reaction.
