I had a baby in May and just started a job at the end of July doing night audit at a hotel two nights a week. However, my boyfriend is getting laid off of his job and I cannot afford to work part time anymore so I have to tell my boss that he wasted his time training me and now I have to find a full time job. I don't want to tell him because I am afraid he will be angry, am I rude to quit so soon? Does my boss have a right to be mad at me? I feel bad.......but I have to do what's best for my new family........( I also hate working at night because it messes up my sleeping schedule....)

no it is not rude of you, tell the problem and tell him the truth. as he may offer you a daytime job. if not and you dont like working there dont . he has no right to get angry with you. and if he does its no loss. he will have no problem finding someone to fill that position, you need to move foward and do whats best for you. dont let him use bulling tactics or guilt trips thats life he'll get over it.

If you went into with a reasonable expectation of staying for a while you know you don't need to feel bad. Your boss probably will get annoyed (he's only human) but it's not really justified.

End of the day most companies will care a lot less about you than you are caring about them at the moment. If they decided to lay you off because to save some money they wouldn't worry for long about whether you would be mad. You have to look out for yourself and see being fair to people as a secondary objective.

These things happen and it's not like you have a choice and want to be rude. You have to do what's best. You could talk to your boss about it and see if there's another position he could offer you that would work out better and you wouldn't have wasted the training time. He'll probably be mad if you have to quit, but there's nothing you can do about it so just move on. Good luck!

The hotel won't like it, but it's a fact of the business. If working this position no longer is the best fit for you, but you like the hotel otherwise, inquire if there is another position you can apply for. If they are unable or uninterested, offer a two week notice and begin the job hunt. Night audit is a hard business to do part-time.

Yikes.. what a difficult situation for you. It is not "rude" to put your family's needs first. Your boss may be disappointed or could totally understand your situation. Be honest and ask for his advice. He may be able to offer you a better shift schedule or even a lead to a new job. In a perfect world you would be able to stay home with your wonderful baby. Good luck to you..

I am a night auditor also, and yes he will be angry it's hard job to fill especially as a part time position. I have to say you have to take care of you and yours first though, give them some notice and do what you have to do. Doesn't matter if they are angry or not, but you can try and make it as painless as possible for them.

Resign in good form, offer two weeks notice and just say family reasons do not go into details. You owe him nothing.
