one day yourself?

Most young people have no respect for the elderly and yet they will be old themseves and will have to face the same abuse.

Absolutely have respect for the elderly...
I was babysitted by my grandparents and came to learn at a very young age that the kids my age had no clue and that the older you were the wiser you were....lol...i had an unfair advantage in school when kids would say silly kid stuff and I knew the real deal

To this day, I rather have a conversation with someone older. I even date older guys for that same reason...always was around older folks, and they are who I enjoy being around most...

Some people get respect and some don't irrespective of age. In the case of older people, some are very wise and knowledgeable and can do many things younger people tend to be not very good at. On the other hand some older people are just miserable old gits.

I am an 'Old Fart' already been almost 50, I was brought up to respect my elders but as I got older and worked things out for myself I realised that just because someone is older doesn't always mean to say they are wiser, I think we all need to make our own mistakes in life to have the knowledge to work life out for ourselves.

Yes I do. I am in the Forces and everyday i learn something new and will always ask the old boys how it once was. When its remembrance day or its time for an oap's lunch we always get the during the war speech. One day i will just like them and to be honest i am not looking forward to being so old that i cannot look after myself. If the government gets their way we will be working until we are 68 so who is going to have time to feel old!!!

Do you respect older people for their guidance and knowledge?

It depends - some people seem to assume that all older people should be more knowledgable and wiser.

But look at some young/middle aged people you know now - are they thick ignorant idiots?

Age will not necessarily make them any more intelligent considerate or wiser - indeed it probaly won't!

A friend of mine says his father is a total and compete idiot - I agree - and my friend then points out that he ALWAYS has been!

In a non-Western country, you wouldn't have had to ask this question cause respecting the Old Ones (the Ancient Ones, I should say) is not a choice or a special behavior: it's part of everyday life. It's the ground of social culture.

each and every cellular has DNA and it really is consisted of two strands tightly woven round one yet another. the ingredient that stops both strands from breaking aside is called a telomeric cap (it really is random nucleotide sequences stated as nonsense codons. Codon is a three sequence of nucleotides that codes for amino acids eg. CUU is a amino acid stated as proline . A nonsense codon is one which doesnt code for any amino acid production) each and every time your cells divide a small sequence is lost there through lowering the steadiness of the cellular's DNA (in layman's words). this would ultimately lead do maximum of Ur cells' DNA starting to be volatile. and many times even as a mistake takes position in DNA the cellular will carry out vehicle cytolysis (cellular suicide) to dodge issues. So once you're previous maximum of ur cells telomeric caps will be low and they are at probability of die even as they conflict to divide.. Whats quite exciting about this theory is the impact it has on evolution (because this happens on both meiotic besides as mitotic divisions. which signifies that a species grows previous too earlier it mutates.. yet thats a diverse tale)

as long as they are not in any way being offensive towards me or say anything that i consider to be derogatory, then yes. i don't know how i would feel when i get to be really old, but i sure as am not going to live my life as a elderly citizen in this country. as the way they treat old people here in britain especially by the government is a disgrace

i believe there are more good young people out there who respect the elderly than the other kind of uneducated yob who literally have no respect for themselves and they live their lives day to day with that attitude, but as you say everyone receives the elderly title unless they pass on prematurely

I have this problem with my mom....
I respect her knowledge and stuff but its just that older people come off like they know EVERYTHING and cant learn a thing or two from a young person!
