if you are taking fung wah bus from boston, the nearest subway station is the B and D train two blocks north on grand st and chrystie st. take the B or D train to 34th st herald square, then transfer to the N, Q, R, W train one stop to times square.

if you are taking the lucky star bus from boston, the nearst subway station is 1 block north on grand st and chrystie st. follow directions as above

if you are arriving from elsewhere (Travel pack, 2000 bus), and find yourself at 88 east broadway, or forsyth st (where msot other chinatown buses are located). you have to start walking either east along east broadway to essex st, and take the F train (take it to herald square and transfer to the N/Q/R/W train)... or walk up several blocks to the B and D subway station at grand st.

alternatively, you can walk west 1/4 mile along canal st toward Broadway, and directly get the N, or R trains from there.

btw, if your hotel is on 49th st, the N/R/Q/W train actually stops on 49th st.

look at my chinatown maps at http://www.nychinatown.org/canal2.html#canaleast
marked on that map is #62, #63, and #64 (chinatown bus stops) and relative location to subway stations.
