I'm not to familiar with the "healing practices" in India but I have heard of a Gentlemen from Brazil whom calls himself John of God. It is estimated that he has treated, either directly or indirectly, in the order of 15 million people during the past 40 years.
His site is pretty interesting to look into so I've included the link!

It is not only India who has this ability. It is anyone who is a follower of God, no matter what name they call Him by. Even in the Bible God was know as Jehovan, Elohim, El Shadai(sp), and maybe other names. Those of us who have become one with God have this ability. It's what I choose to call a gift of the Spirit.

Spread Your Love by the Holy Spirit through Cal Jennings

Ki, Chi, The Source, The Force
Are just different names for God.
It's really very simple,
But to you it may seem odd.

It's through the Holy Spirit
That God spreads Jesus love.
So evr'yone let's all join hands
And spread peace from above.

The world is fille with hatred and war,
Greed, lust, violence, and sin.
We've got to fight a spiritual war
That first comes from within.

So if you call God Allah,
Buddah, Krishna, or Id,
It's time to come together in peace.
It's about time that we did.

Refrain:

Spread your love throughout the world.
Let your light shine bright.
It's time to break the darkness
And turn on our inner light.
