Recently, I came across the online degree programs and this is in regards to that only. I was curious about these online degree programs and wanted to know if these programs have some value in India or not. And what is the value of these degrees in abroad?

I've heard of few universities like University of Phoenix and similar others which offer these kind of programs and let people pursue their education without any geographical boundaries.

When you talk about value of the education and certification, not only your but everyone's ultimate intention is to get into an multinational company in a good position or to advance your career level.

Why a person wants to do an online course while correspondence and other distance education modes are available at a cheaper fees than that of the one being offered by University of Phoenix. There could be only two reasons....the first being - can sit examination at the student's convenience and the second being - the open book examination. No need to study hard or byheart anything to reproduce in the examination. Its easy.

All the recruiters in India know the tricks of those universities. Hence they won't give much value to those certificates.

Hi. I was looking at your question and it seems you have it in the wrong category. Try another one so experienced people in the field can help you out. But as far as education goes, obtaining experience is something you will need in the long run. I suggest you go do this, but there is nothing better than to actually be in class. I suggest you carefully examine your options. As far as the economy goes, only the "fit" will survive. What I mean by that is that you should start thinking of a 1 year or 2 year career instead of a 4 to 6 year course. You never know how the economy will be so it is very important to establish a name for yourself at a place where you can grow in experience and in your person. Its your future. You never know what tomorrow brings. I'm not saying "to live life to its fullest while you can". What I want to transmit to you is that that you need to concentrate on your life as a whole and not just a fraction. What ever you are going to do, just do it. But in the meanwhile, establish your self.

It really is an area by area and degree by degree basis. I'm getting a masters degree in special education from university of phoenix and it is not good in every state in America. You have to check with the licensing board of what ever field you are interested in.
