Footballers can't rely on interpreter as they do not always do a good job. Sometimes the player says one thing and the interpreter translates into something different. Secondly players can backstab (talk bad about) other players and coaches especially ones who do not speak their language. Take english clubs which have different language players. Different players speak Italian, French, Spanish, German and so on. Some players don't like other players and some don't like the coach. They start talking bad about them to players who speak their language. They make sure that the players or coach they are talking bad about do not understand their language! Eventually the players and coach do find out about this and no one in the club trusts anyone other than themselves.THIS IS DANGEROUS! However if all footballer know english and problems like this happen then the coach has control and tells everyone to speak english so that everyone understands everyone and the backstabbing will be gone.

To make speaking ENGLISH compulsory would be extremely unpopular and with good reason. Many would take it as a slight against themselves--non-english-speakers--and well, it's true, why english? If you really want to facilitate communication in that way, the language used should be Esperanto--this way no nationality is favoured.

And well, your reasoning is flawed. If they want to speak poorly of one another, they will. What is most important is that players are mature as people and teammates and genuinely love one another. That would be best. They will have to actively make an effort to understand and accomodate each other, just like how a classroom works. This makes room for learning and real team spirit.

Why not make it Spanish?

If you consider the players from Central and South America, and Spain, there's probably more professionals that speak Spanish than English.

I don't think your argument has validity. The fact that you state "International" means that it is the responisbility of the organizers to take that into consideration, and make it work.

Would it be a benefit and nice? Sure. Also, keep in mind, it's a club's choice. THEY could require it. THEY could choose to only hire people who speak English. So, saying it should be a new rule doesn't make sense, the teams are in control of the issue.

It's not really about speaking English, it's more about effective communication. While there may be times of misunderstanding, it seems to work out OK. English for some is a very difficult language to master and this in itself could cause more miscommunication than at times exists already.
