also i remember not even having any relationships other than friends with boys until 7th grade. how did these girls jump to sex so quickly. i didnt even choose my own clothes until about 4th grade. i see girls in little short skirts and talkign about how they went shopping for theirselves and how they do their hair. why is the world so obsessed with physical appearence as well?

I graduated in 87 and girls back then didn't develop until grade nine and didn't get nearly the curves girls are getting today, I remember in grade seven, holding hands with my girlfriend was pretty intense, we didn't kiss.....sigh......

Innocence is a cute term for ignorance. No I do not think children belong engaging in intimate relationships but sex education and discussion of social and long term effects of it would be more beneficial then trying to isolate them from these subjects.

truly, these things are cultural and cyclical. the concept of the innocence of children is a relatively new western one. in the middle ages, as soon as you could fully work (twelve, or so), you were an adult, with all of the rights (such as there are) and responsibilities, thereof. in other cultures, children marry (or DON'T marry) and begin breeding at nine, at times. physical maturity (ie, puberty) equals maturity, period (no pun intended), in these cultures - and "these cultures" were our cultures, not so very long ago. sooo...

IT AIN'T TV!

In some cultures yes.
Christian and other religious people usually extend the innocense of their children.
Romeo and Juliet were lovers at 14.
These things fluctuate with time.

Well you can thank tv and advertising and the internet for this one.. Kids have no childhood anymore.. They are forced to mature quickly due to peer pressure... Shame really...

Yes, it has. I would say to blame it on TV and such, but really, in the end it will be blamed on the parents. It's the parents job to raise a child with morals, etc.
