Betta fish do much better in small spaces. And never put two together. A two and a half gallon tank is much too large for one. Think something around the size of the container you buy them in. (Trust me they live in those things) But they do best in something small. Think about 24 oz of water. If you have a little bit bigger of a fish, you can go a little bigger. Talk to the pet store though, and see what they recommend. You can even buy lamps with beta fish bowls as part of them. There not that bright, but a neat way to show off your fish.

Yes that would work just great! In fact I am getting Zeus (a betta) and he will be living in a 2 1/2 gal tank too.

That is a good size for betta, they DO like bigger tanks and you Do have to keep it clean. Even a five gal is not too big for betta.

it's perfect.

and i think it's awesome that you're taking the time to care about your betta's comfort, unlike a lot of people on here.
