Well I agree, most music today sucks to me. Like you said, the bands today are not like the awesome ones like Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana. That's why I really no longer listen to new stuff, but have settled with my now oldies, which is a mix of music from the 70's, 80's, & the 90's. Gone are the good bands, and here are and here come the bad bands (in my opinion of course).
Nirvana rocked then and still rocks today.
R.I.P. Kurt Cobain
Sorry for the last couple lines. Love Nirvana and yes, I do not believe the suicide story. Murdered he was.

I totally agree wih you man. In the next 5 years rock music will break in again. I am sick of all this bullshit music, it's not even music. They are all just crappy bands. Nirvana was excellent, every fvckin lyric just sounded nuts. What is kind of ironic is that all of these emo bands, they branched off of nirvana. They grew up listening to grunge/hard rock. This emo **** has to stop. It is just horrible.

I like all the bands you listed, including the stuff from your generation. I especially like Nirvana...a classic. I also like the contemporary stuff, including Muse, All American Rejects, etc. etc.
I think most of the alternative rock/indie music we have today is good, but the rap is just plain (c)rap.
But hey, much of the time we adapt and are "taught" what to like by the radio and MTV.

I asked a similar question a couple of weeks back. I'd say start your own band and make the music you like or replay your Nirvana tracks, or you can look for good current bands like a mad-man... in which case I beg you to tell me when you find them.

Me and my brother were just talking about this yesterday. I couldn't agree more. He told me to name just one new hard rock band and I couldn't. While I must admit, I do like an occasional emo song here and there, It's just not the rock-n-roll that I love. Today's music is just mass produced with no substance or soul.

Try listening to country. If you give it a chance you may like it. listen to the words. You might hear your life being played in the songs.

Maybe you should branch out and try listening to some different genres. I used to be pretty blinded to other types then I went to some live shows and started to appreciate other artist. You mention a lot of mainstream stuff trying supporting some of your local bands you might be surprised.

I know what you mean! Music today is all the same! It's either emo or rap I don't really care for both. I think society has relied too much on TV generation to tell them who to like what. It's all spiraling back down to conformity.

i agree with you partially. i love(d) nirvana and smasing pumpkins. but i can't stand fall out boy or mcr. i'd much rather listen to the likes of blue october, 10 years, hinder, three days grace. i'm also listening to older bands that are back touring, who i also got to see in concert...along with the other bands i listed, come to think of it, like buckcherry and candlebox!
