Yeah it is declining swiftly. You might be knowing that more than 70% of the world's bottlenose dolphins are found in the Irrawady River Basin(Myanmar,Asia) and also the saline Chilika Lake (Orissa,India). These areas also abound in numerous sea food like fish, lobsters, prawns and crabs. So permanent nets are spread throughout these water bodies. Most of the deaths of bottlenose dolphins are due to being caught in these nets and then injury or suffocation. Bottlenoses are also injured or killed by the propeller boats which are being excessively used by tourists visiting the beautiful islands in the Chilika lake.
Last of all, I AM NOT SURE THAT THEY ARE BOTTLENOSES!!! THEY ARE MORE FREQUENTLY KNOWN AS IRRAWADY DOLPHINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i talked to a bottlenose dolphin last night and he said he is lonely!
I said why is your population is declining. He says no there population is not declining, it only seems that way. The dolphins are merely evolving into powerful gopher like creatures digging deep into the earths crust where people who are watching the bottle nose dolphins will never find them!
