Most of the protozoa are cauative agent of diseasea but some classes of protozoa like foraminiferans eg Elphidium are useful .Their shells occur in petroleum bearing areas. Then they are also used as building materials eg They were used in Egyptian Pyramids.Their ooze(calcerous shell) changes to limestone rocks Another protazoan class Radiolarians 'skeleton are used as abrasive (rubing)and filtering agent You know 30% of ocean bed is covered with calcerous foraminiferans shell called foraminiferns ooze but protozoa are also responsible for diseases like malaria, sleeping sickness, dysentery etc.

Tuberculosis in cows is a serious economic problem in the UK. It is generally believed that badgers are a source of infection, but it is not clear how the bacterium (Mycobacterium bovis) is transmitted from badgers to cows. It is possible that cattle eat grass contaminated with badger urine, but mycobacteria will not survive long on grass as they tend to die when exposed to drying conditions and sunlight.
Recently showed that M. bovis can survive within a protozoan known as Acanthamoeba castellanii. In the environment, protozoa generally live by digesting bacteria. If bacteria can survive this attack, and continue to live inside the protozoa, they are protected from adverse conditions outside.
Reseach is going on that how to use proyozoa for preventing tuberculosis in cattle in the future.
