I have 2 pc's, one is an old pentium 3 pc that i got in the yr2000, the other one is a brand new pc, an athlon x-2, just a month old. I did an experiment, using the same torrent file, and clients (Azereus and BitTornado). The new pc could easily hit 200+ kbps download speed in no time in both clients. However, the pentium 3 can only reach a max speed of 30kbps and averages at around 7.5kbps...So does having a slower pc affect torrent downloads?

Nope It Doesn't

and if you said the first PC is 200 and The other PC is 30
that sounds reasonable
because 200+30+230 that is Normal speed for Torrent download in One PC

But One thing i can say you Might need to check it
is the Option of the program in the Old PC
because P3 is Not Bad Computer with download
But The Option Might need to be edit
or maybe you need to Uninstall it and Then Install it again
because that is one of Torrent Problems that might happen

and Good luck

well what are you using for internet access on the pentium 3 56k modem of dsl modem ..
high speed internet if you want fast download yse a router with built in wireless for your new pc and use a wireless usb adapter for your
pentium 3 then sign up for the most fast high speed internet and set up the 2 computers and add more ram to the pentium 3 add a better Graphics card and windows xp then the 2 computers will be fine you then can have 2 ids on windows messenger on the 2 computers and transfer files from the old pc too the new one in no time at all the transfer is verry fast transfer files of size 700mb+ if you have a good high speed internet with a router your hit speeds of 700 to 1000 kbps
