It doesn't detect the hardware? Or is it simply that it won't work?

If it doesn't detect the hardware, check the connections and make sure everything is powered on.

If it detects the hardware and just won't run it, make sure you have the driver installed. www.samsung.com should have the driver available for download.

There are a few questions you want to ask yourself first.

1. Is the hard drive powered?
2. Is your USB ports functional? You may want to try different USB port.
3. Is the hardware working with another computer?
4. Did you install the driver if driver required for this device to work?
5. Is the device has shown in the "device manager" as an "unknown device" or "other device".

Just some tips for you to do troubleshooting.
