Whats the gear shift pattern on ur bike....I've got a 1-down 4-up
Just wanna know the most common pattern.......

Most have 1 down and 4 up, but I have had 1 down 3 up and in a old Italian Banilli (sp) the shifter was on the right and it had 1 up and 4 down, no one could touch me on them long sweeping left handers, looked like a flat tracker instead of a straight dirt bike. The bike I have now has 1 down and 5 up, it is a large road bike with overdrive.
But the most common is 1 down 4up

In the US....the government mandated a 1 down/4 up gearshift pattern years ago. With the shift on the left side of the bike.

I've been riding motorcycles since the late 1960's, recently purchased a 2006 Suzuki. I think every one had the same 1-down 4-up shift patern.

I have 2 different patterns.
'72 Honda CT90 -- 4 down
'93 Suzuki DR350S 1 down, 4 up.
It is confusing.

One down , four up is the most common pattern. Some are reversed for racing.

i got 1 down 5 up, that coz i have override gear which means i can cruise happily at around 60mph with low revs saving on petrol!!!!!!!!!
