I have not read the graphic novel but I think this is a great movie, bought it and have seen it at least 30 times...the direction, set design and acting to me is great...in fact I like this much more than "Pirates" however I got it at walmart and in my rush I did not notice that it was the 1 disc version and not the 2 set... but I definitely love it...and I don't really like "gory" movies but this one rocks!!!!

I thought this movie was amazing, your right, for being kinda gruesome, it pulls you in and you can almost see though every characters eyes....

What is not to like, Heather Graham and Johnny Depp?
It is a great movie.

Very well done movie *although not historically accurate..but its a movie..lets suspend belief shall we?* :)
The acting was first rate *esp w/ Robbie Coltrane..nice to see you can add humor to a Jack the Ripper movie* :)
