You should have a serious conversation with him. Make sure he understands your point of view. Tell him the truth about how you feel about him. It's usually common sense that if you don't like someone, you don't start a relationship with them. Make him realize that. But if you find that you have to constantly be on edge around him regarding what you can and can't say or what you can or can't do, leave. It's not fair to you to live on guard all the time.

That doesn't lead to a very healthy relationship.

And if he doesn't attempt to try or change after this conversation, leave.

People that actually want to work things out always try and rarely if ever walk away.

Perhaps your new boyfriend is dropping you hints that he wants a special kind of liking and caring from you.

Sex is what guys usually want from their new girlfriend. And if the two of you haven't yet had sex, then probably this is what he means with those smarty remarks.

Perhaps he thinks his hints are so obvious that they don't need an explanation.

And when you ask him about it, then he may think that you understand what's going on but you are pretending ignorance because you are not willing to give him the kind of liking and caring he really wants from you.

Of course, what to do about it is up to you. If you don't like him well enough to have sex with him, then perhaps you should find another boyfriend. But I can guarantee you that any other boyfriend you find will want to have sex with you too. Although another guy may hint and ask you for it in a more romantic and gentlemanly way.

It depends...how much do you like him to put up with his insecurities? You really need to be careful! Insecurity is usually a sign of an unstable mind, who can become possessive and stalk you when you try to break it off! Probe into why he is saying such negative things and tell him that the negative comments only put you down as well. Tell him, " why would I be going out with you if I didn't like you?" If he still looks for reassurance, tell him that the relationship will not work out and that he needs to run hom to Mommy for affirmation!

Then strike up a conversation. It is the one of the important things that friends need to do, talk. Learn together. Talking or communicating is not a skill that we are born with. I is something we have to work on. Hopefully your boy friend will talk with you, or at least try to talk to you. Keep talking with people. Life is explicable, but you really have to get good at reading and gaining information and communicating what you know or what you are working toward knowing. Also, you did learning experiences, and a variety of learning experiences.
Reading Novels are a good way of learning, poetry, short stories essays and so on.

Very simple... make his remarks true and correct. Dump him. You deserve someone better. Someone who's not as negative as your current boyfriend. He rather think you're only playing with him because he really thought you're not supposed to like him... or worse, "love" him. Example, he assumes you're so beautiful and you deserve someone better-looking than himself. Or perhaps, you're smarter than him. Or perhaps, you're wealthier than himself.

He lacks confidence in all you do... walking away from you after his negative remarks is so rude. I truly believe you do not deserve such rudeness.

Time to move, girly girl... ;-)

just lay it out there for him. Tell him how you feel and that you hate hearing him say those things. Tell him that if you do have a problem with him then you will be open about it and he will know and to stop saying those things because you like/love him or whatever. Reassure him of how you feel but also relay that you dont' want to hear him say that anymore.
