When it is Winter Solstice or Spring Equinox (etc.) where are the sun's direct rays??

Thanks(:

An Equinox is when the daytime and the nighttime is exactly the same length of time (12 hours each). The rest of the year, either the day or night is longer. This happens twice per year, March 21 (the Spring Equinox) and September 21 (the Autumn equinox).

A Solstice is the opposite. It's when the day is the longest it will ever be, and the night is the shortest it will ever be (that is the Summer Solstice, at December 21); or when the night is the longest it will ever be and the day is the shortest (the Winter Solstice, on June 21).

This happens because the earth tilts on its axis as it travels around the sun, the same reasons we get seasons.

Many holidays are scheduled around the time of the solstices and equinoxes (such as Christmas, Easter, etc.), since the beginning and end of the seasons had always been carefully watched by ancient peoples.

the winter solstice is December 21 and that is when the north pole is tilted away from the sun, so the northern hemisphere receives the weakest rays. this is the longest "night" of the year

the summer solstice is June 21 and that is when the northpole is titled towards the sun. this is the longest "day" of the year.

the vernal equinox is March 20/21 and that is spring in the northern hemisphere. the sun is over the equator. Equal day and night.

the autumnal equinox is September 23 and that is also when the sun is over the equator. Equal day and night.

It's the times according to length of days that indicate the solstice.. hense the shortest day of the year and the longest day of the year all indicate when the winter and summer solstice happens,
