Symptoms of a miscarriage include:

* Vaginal bleeding that may be light or heavy, constant or irregular. Although bleeding is often the first sign of a miscarriage, first-trimester bleeding may also occur with a normal pregnancy. Bleeding with pain, however, is a sign that miscarriage is more likely.

* Pain. You may have pelvic cramps, abdominal pain, or a persistent, dull ache in your lower back. Pain may start a few hours to several days after bleeding has begun.

* Blood clots or grayish (fetal) tissue passing from the vagina.

It is not always easy to tell whether a miscarriage is taking place. A miscarriage often does not occur as a single event but as a chain of events over several days. One woman's physical experience of a miscarriage can be very different from another woman's experience.

A pregnant woman who starts bleeding or experiences abdominal pain should contact the doctor immediately. Depending on the type of miscarriage, diagnosis may be made on the basis of the medical history, physical examination, analysis of any discharge, blood and urine tests (to detect the presence of infection or anemia caused by hemorrhage), or ultrasound studies (to establish the presence or absence of a fetus.)

Whatever you do - do not ASSUME that you have miscarried. See your doctor immediately so that they can do any ultrasound. Depending on how your body handles your monthly cycle - cramping, no cramping; heavy flow, light flow, etc., your body may not show the typical signs of clotting and cramping. I had a friend that thought that she had miscarried and so went forward took really hot baths, drank too much, etc. for several days before her doctor confirmed that she had not! Also, placenta previa pregnancies bleed during the pregnancy and it is not a sign of miscarriage. Be careful and see your doctor asap.

From my experience (I was 7 weeks along both times) I had very heavy bleeding (had to change every 30 mins.), severe cramps (couldn't stand or sit for hours) & being in a lot of pain.

If you think you are having one call your doctor ASAP or get to the local hospital, just incase you are having a tubal or something more severe.

From expierience: Depends on how far along you are. Early in pregnancy you will have small clots and very little cramping, if any. If further along, it will be a lot of blood and very bad cramping, fever, nausea or vomiting and sleepiness.
