Does any one know if anyone celebrates 5th november, Bonfire night? Its a British thing to remember the night when the houses of parliment were blown up. We have fireworks and huge bonfires and eat loads of great food. Anywhere in orange county, USA, do this? Its my fave holiday and i miss it!!!!

It's called Guy Fawkes night, and I love this holiday too! I am not English, but I love the bonfire and the burning of the Guy.

There are several Orange Counties in the US-the two that leap most readily to mind are the ones in CA and FL, but there are others, as well. Where I live, there is an English organization that does a Guy Fawkes bonfire and party. Get online and see if you can find one in your area, and find out if they have any activities scheduled for then. Another great place to find information is English grocery stores that sell foods imported from the UK, or tea rooms run by ex-pat English people. Start calling around and see if anyone can point you in the right direction.

Good luck!

I miss it too . It is still celebrated in England . I take it that you are English and now living in the USA . It was once celebrated where I live , but it has been banned ; the reason why , is because , some law-less ones have been mis-using the fire-works to cause harm to others . Government lifted the ban , and the same thing happened --- there was the illegal use of the fire-works . So , it is now permanently out-lawed. ----- No Guy Fawkes / Bon fire / fire-works night where I live .

I think it might be considered unamerican and slightly rude if any place in America celebrated a night when property wwas destroyed in a blatant anarchial chaotic mess centered about England's Parliment and government of its people. Somehow, Boston Tea party comes to mind.

Guy Fawkes day? Maybe find a pub, they may do something. Or start your own tradition and do a beach bonfire night!

I think now since V came out you will be seeing a lot more of this.
Most of us yanks don't know where to start, you should coordinate your own event and let people know about it.

Beach: 6-whenever. BYOB and fireworks, firewood if you've got it. Maybe even get a drum circle out there.

Doubt it, since it is a British day about a British event. Does England celebrate Patriot Day or Independence Day? Of course not.
